Flatbed
Flatbed is open deck work with no walls and no roof. Out of Central Florida the freight is structural steel, lumber, pipe, drywall, roofing material and palletized building products headed for job sites across Osceola County and the Southeast. Because the load sits in the open, securement is your responsibility, and it is regulated under FMCSA rules in 49 CFR Part 393. Expect straps, chains, binders, edge protection and tarping, depending on the commodity. Against dry van, flatbed trades physical work for time. You load and unload in yards and on job sites instead of sitting in a dock line, so detention is lower and your day is more predictable. Flatbed is where our open deck operation starts. The securement habits you build here are the same ones stepdeck and lowboy assignments run on.
