Fastex Logistics is hiring Class A CDL drivers in Clermont, FL and across Lake County. Our terminal is at 9640 Sidney Hayes Rd, in the industrial corridor south of Orlando International Airport, about 35 miles east of Clermont by way of SR 50 or Florida’s Turnpike.

These are company driver jobs. There is no lease, no deposit and no escrow account. You drive our late-model equipment, we settle weekly in the $3,000 to $5,000 range depending on the trailer you pull and the lanes you run, and we pay a $3,000 sign-on bonus. Your personal vehicle stays behind a locked gate at the terminal while you are out.

The Central Florida fleet runs six trailer types: flatbed, stepdeck, lowboy, conestoga, reefer and live bee transport. We match assignments to experience you can document. Drivers who want heavy haul can work toward it once they have built a record on open deck freight.

Meeting the minimums gets you a phone call. What happens after that depends on your record: where you have run, what you have hauled, and how you have handled the equipment you were given.

If your time is on dry van or reefer and you want to move to open deck, say so on that call. We start those drivers on flatbed and move them to stepdeck or lowboy once securement is second nature. Most of the Lake County drivers on our roster came in this way.

    Flatbed

    Flatbed is open deck work with no walls and no roof. Out of Central Florida the loads are structural steel, lumber, pipe, drywall, roofing and palletized building material. A good share of it lands on job sites in the South Lake growth corridor around Clermont, Minneola and Groveland, and the rest heads out across the Southeast. Because nothing encloses the freight, securement belongs to you, and FMCSA holds you to it under 49 CFR Part 393. You will work with straps, chains, binders, edge protection and, depending on the commodity, a tarp. Against dry van, flatbed asks more of your back and less of your patience: most pickups and deliveries happen in yards and on job sites rather than at appointment doors, so detention runs shorter. This is where our open deck drivers start. The securement habits you build on flatbed are what qualify you for stepdeck and lowboy later.

    Stepdeck

    A stepdeck, also called a drop deck, is an open trailer with a short upper deck over the tractor and a longer lower deck behind it. That lower deck sits around 42 inches off the ground against roughly 60 on a standard flatbed, which buys you about 18 inches of cargo height. In practice it means a load standing close to 10 feet still clears Florida’s 13 foot 6 inch legal limit without an oversize permit. Typical freight is compact excavators, skid steers, tractors, scissor lifts, crated machinery and tanks. Lake County agriculture and the construction spreading south and west of Clermont both produce a steady supply of it. Securement follows the same rules as flatbed, with added attention to ramp loading and how weight sits across the deck. Some of our stepdecks carry integrated ramps for drive-on freight.

    Lowboy

    Lowboy handles the machines that will not clear height limits on anything else. The well rides 18 to 24 inches off the pavement, which leaves room for equipment standing 11 to 12 feet tall. Most of our units use a removable gooseneck so a machine can be driven or winched on from the front. Loads are excavators, dozers, graders, cranes and similar tracked or wheeled iron. Many of them exceed legal weight or dimension, which means state permits, and some Florida routes add escort requirements or restrict the hours you are allowed to move. The seat calls for real command of axle weight distribution, permit conditions and where a machine has to sit on the deck. Lowboy is the highest paid assignment we run in Central Florida, and we fill it from drivers who already have verified flatbed or stepdeck time.

    Conestoga

    A conestoga is a flatbed or stepdeck fitted with a retractable tarp on a rolling frame. The canopy slides back along the trailer to open the deck for side or overhead loading, then closes over the load. It replaces hand tarping. A conventional tarp job runs 30 to 45 minutes and accounts for a large share of flatbed injuries, most of them falls from the deck. A conestoga opens and closes in a few minutes and you stay on the ground to do it. Freight is usually product that needs weather protection but still requires open deck access: machinery, coiled steel, packaged building materials and finished goods. Securement rules do not change. The canopy keeps the weather off the load. It does not restrain it. For a driver, this is open deck versatility without the tarping.

    Reefer

    Reefer runs temperature controlled freight in refrigerated trailers. Out of Central Florida that means produce, frozen and refrigerated food, beverages and pharmaceutical product moving through Florida distribution centers and north on I-75 and I-95. Lake County’s own agricultural output feeds part of it. The work is easier on the body than open deck and harder on your attention. You verify the set point against the bill of lading, confirm the trailer is pre-cooled before anything goes on it, watch the unit in transit and keep the temperature records clean. Food loads fall under the FDA Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food rule, and a documented temperature excursion is one of the most common reasons a receiver rejects a load and files a claim. Refrigerated receivers hold you to fixed appointment windows, so scheduling is tighter and detention is more common than on open deck. Volume holds up year round.

    Bee Hauling

    Bee hauling moves live commercial honeybee colonies for agricultural pollination. Out of Florida that means migrating hives across the Southeast, and we have been doing it for more than eight years with the colonies arriving healthy. Live freight has its own rules. Securement pairs standard strapping with heavy netting so the stacked hives stay put, and you manage airflow yourself by keeping the truck moving through the heat of the day so the colonies do not overheat. The schedule belongs to the bees rather than to a warehouse. Loading and unloading happen at night or right at dawn while the hives are dormant. It is an unusual clock and it asks you to show up exactly when you said you would, but the runs go farm to farm, so dock detention is not part of the job.

    Questions Clermont Drivers Ask Us

    How far is the terminal from Clermont?

    The yard is at 9640 Sidney Hayes Rd, south of Orlando International Airport, roughly 35 miles east of Clermont. Most of our Lake County drivers run SR 50 east and pick up Florida’s Turnpike from there. If you live north of town off US 27, Hancock Road connects up to the Turnpike as well. You are only making that drive at the start and end of a run, not daily.

    Do I have to live in Clermont to apply?

    No. We hire across Lake County and the wider Central Florida area, including Minneola, Groveland, Mascotte, Winter Garden and the Four Corners area. Put your real address on the application and the recruiter will work out the home time that fits it.

    Do you hire drivers with less than two years of experience?

    Our standard requirement is two years of Class A experience. The application asks whether you are over or under two years, so put your real number in. Under two years is not an automatic no, but it becomes a longer conversation with the recruiter about where you have run and what you have hauled.

    Is this an owner-operator or a lease program?

    Neither. You drive our equipment. There is no deposit, no lease payment and no escrow.

    How is the $3,000 sign-on bonus paid?

    Ask the recruiter on your call. Bonus terms depend on the trailer type and your start date, and they will walk you through the schedule before you commit to anything.

    Do I need flatbed experience to get hired?

    No. If you have Class A time on a dry van or reefer, we will talk to you. If you want to move to the open deck side, flatbed is where you start. Stepdeck and lowboy come later, once you have shown you can secure a load properly.

    What endorsements do you want?

    Class A is the requirement. Any additional endorsements widen what we can put you on, so they are worth mentioning on your call.

    Can I park my car at the terminal?

    Yes. Secure parking for personal vehicles at the terminal is included, which is what most Clermont drivers do rather than arranging a ride each way.
