Fastex Logistics is hiring Class A CDL drivers for our Florida operation, based at our terminal at 9640 Sidney Hayes Rd in the industrial corridor south of Orlando International Airport.

These are company driver positions. There is no lease, no deposit and no escrow. Drivers operate late-model company equipment, are paid weekly in a range of $3,000 to $5,000 depending on trailer type and lane assignment, and receive a $3,000 sign-on bonus. Secure parking for personal vehicles is available at the terminal.

The Orlando fleet runs five trailer types: flatbed, stepdeck, lowboy, conestoga and reefer. Assignments are matched to verified experience. Drivers seeking heavy haul work can move into it after establishing a record on open deck freight.

    Flatbed trailer

    Flatbed

    Flatbed is open deck freight with no walls or roof. Standard loads out of Orlando include structural steel, lumber, pipe, drywall, roofing material and palletized building products moving to construction sites across Central Florida and the Southeast. Because the freight is exposed, cargo securement is the driver’s responsibility and is governed by FMCSA standards under 49 CFR Part 393. The work involves straps, chains, binders, edge protection and tarping depending on the commodity. Compared with dry van, flatbed trades physical work for reduced time at docks. Most pickups and deliveries take place in yards or on job sites rather than at appointment-based receiving doors, which lowers detention. Flatbed is the entry point for our open deck operation. The securement skills learned here carry directly into stepdeck and lowboy assignments.

    Stepdeck

    A stepdeck, also called a drop deck, is an open trailer with an upper deck over the tractor and a lower main deck behind it. The lower deck sits at roughly 42 inches against 60 inches on a standard flatbed, which adds about 18 inches of usable cargo height. That clearance allows loads of approximately 10 feet to move within the 13 foot 6 inch legal height limit without an oversize permit. Typical freight includes compact excavators, skid steers, tractors, scissor lifts, crated machinery and tanks. Central Florida generates steady volume in construction and agricultural equipment, much of which exceeds flatbed height limits. Securement follows the same standards as flatbed with added attention to ramp loading and deck weight distribution. Some stepdecks carry integrated ramps for drive-on freight.

    Lowboy trailer

    Lowboy

    Lowboy trailers carry heavy equipment that cannot clear height limits on any other open deck. The well sits between 18 and 24 inches off the road surface, which accommodates machine heights of roughly 11 to 12 feet. Most units use a removable gooseneck so equipment can be driven or winched on from the front. Typical loads are excavators, dozers, graders, cranes and other tracked or wheeled machinery. Many exceed legal weight or dimension limits and require state permits. Some Florida routes carry escort or time of day restrictions. The assignment requires working knowledge of axle weight distribution, permit conditions and machine positioning on the deck. Lowboy is the highest paid seat in our Orlando operation and is filled from drivers with verified flatbed or stepdeck experience.

    Conestoga trailer

    Conestoga

    A conestoga is a flatbed or stepdeck fitted with a retractable tarp system on a rolling frame. The canopy slides back along the trailer to expose the deck for side or overhead loading, then closes over the load. The system replaces manual tarping. A conventional tarp job takes 30 to 45 minutes and accounts for a substantial share of flatbed injuries, most of them falls from the deck. A conestoga opens and closes in a few minutes from ground level. Freight is generally product that requires weather protection but still needs open deck access: machinery, coiled steel, packaged building materials and finished goods. Securement requirements are unchanged. The canopy protects the load but provides no restraint. For the driver, it offers the versatility of open-deck freight while keeping you safely on the ground during loading and unloading.

    Reefer trailer

    Reefer

    Reefer assignments run temperature controlled freight in refrigerated trailers. Out of Orlando this is primarily produce, frozen and refrigerated food, beverages and pharmaceutical product moving through Florida distribution centers and north on I-75 and I-95. The work is less physical than open deck but carries continuous monitoring responsibility. Drivers verify the set point against the bill of lading, confirm the trailer is pre-cooled before loading, monitor unit operation in transit and maintain temperature records. Food loads fall under the FDA Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food rule, and a documented temperature excursion is a common basis for load rejection and claims. Refrigerated receivers operate on fixed appointment windows, so scheduling is tighter and detention is more frequent than on open deck. Volume is stable year round.

    Bee Hauling

    Bee hauling transports live commercial honeybee colonies to support agricultural pollination. Out of Florida, this involves migrating hives across the Southeast. We bring over eight years of experience moving these colonies safely and keeping them healthy on arrival. Moving live freight requires specialized care. Securement uses standard strapping paired with heavy-duty netting to keep the stacked hives intact. Drivers must also actively manage airflow by keeping the truck moving during the day to prevent the colonies from overheating. Schedules follow the bees, not warehouse appointments. Loading and unloading occur almost exclusively at night or dawn when the bees are dormant. This unconventional schedule requires reliability, but it completely eliminates dock detention through direct farm-to-farm deliveries.

    Questions People Ask Us

    Do you hire drivers with less than two years of experience?

    Our standard requirement is two years of Class A experience. The application asks whether you are over or under two years, so put your real number in. Under two years is not an automatic no, but it will be a longer conversation with the recruiter about where you have run and what you have hauled.

    Is this an owner-operator or a lease program?

    Neither. You drive our equipment. There is no deposit, no lease payment and no escrow.

    How is the $3,000 sign-on bonus paid?

    Ask the recruiter on your call. Bonus terms depend on the trailer type and start date, and they will walk you through the schedule before you commit to anything.

    Do I need flatbed experience to get hired?

    No. If you have Class A time on a dry van or reefer we will talk to you. If you want to move onto the open deck side, flatbed is where you start, and stepdeck and lowboy come later once you have shown you can secure a load properly.

    What endorsements do you want?

    Class A is the requirement. Additional endorsements widen what we can put you on and are worth mentioning on your call.

    Yes. Secure parking for personal vehicles at the Orlando yard is included.
